As a publicist, I get the opportunity to work with a lot of cool brands and to try out the latest, award-winning products on the market (especially in the mom space right now). And as a TV host, I’m constantly seeking out the most innovative gadgets and gifts to showcase in my news segments. This Christmas, I’ve pulled together some of my absolute favorite gifts for everyone on your list and at a range of price points. I’ve even included my absolute favorite DIY gift that people will actually LOVE.
If you’re looking for awesome stocking stuffers that won’t disappoint, check out my segment on FOX 17 or my round-up in West Michigan Woman.
I also shared some of my favorite gifts on Great Day Tampa Bay- click here to watch: Great Gifts on Great Day Tampa Bay!
This is not only an award-winning game, it’s a virtual reality adventure!
Seedling makes the most innovative, creative toys and Maze is hands down, my favorite pick for the kids category this year. First, they design their own maze, build the walls and add traps. That makes it a really fun game already. But this is just where the fun begins. From there, you download the free Maze app, take a picture of your maze and then use the included virtual reality viewer and your iPhone to get transported into the creation! It’s super cool – you become the marble, rolling around inside. You can even customize it to include selfies, new obstacles, sound effects, etc. It’s $59.99 and a perfect gift if you’re buying for a family that includes multiple kids– this one gift can cover them all!
Seedling also has 15 ‘Create your own Disney’ kits where kids can design their own costumes, toys and more based on their favorite Disney characters, like a build your own tutu kit or design your own tea set like I displayed in the news segment. These are so cute, but also really modern and beautiful- not your typical Disney products. These start at $14.99+. I want to get my hands on the color globe but they were sold out!
Can we all agree to stop gifting the chemical-laden smelly lotions and potions this year? I’m going to be the one to finally say, enough is enough! Nobody wants the cucumber melon whatever it is anymore. As an alternative, give something natural, organic or at least not full of nasty ingredients! I’m also a big believer that organic shouldn’t break the bank. You don’t need to gift a $100 hand cream. I discovered Puracy a couple years ago when I was shopping on Amazon because it was one of the best price points for organic/natural house cleaners and body products. And I’ve been telling everyone I know ever since! The organic lotion is $12.99. The body care bundle for the shampoo, conditioner, lotion and body wash is $39.99. So no more excuses! Organic is the way to go. This would make a great teacher or neighbor gift.
They’re offering 15% off orders of $25+ through the end of the year with the code “PUR1620P” or you can get super quick Amazon prime shipping for last minute orders.
QuickZip was invented by a Geo Chemist and new mom after she struggled one too many times changing her newborn daughter’s crib sheet. When she couldn’t find a solution, she created one! QuickZip is a two piece crib sheet. There’s a base that stays on the mattress and a sheet that zips off and on in seconds. Eventually, customers started asking for fitted sheets for their own beds, especially their bunk beds and now you can get everything from a crib sheet to a California King. I love that it’s quick to change, easy to fold and doesn’t pop off the corners of the mattress.
One thing to consider when ordering- depending on the size of sheets you order, there are two types of bases. The crib and twin are available in a wraparound base that covers the entire bottom of the mattress (really great for peace of mind knowing it’s impossible for a corner to life). You can check that one out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db47DZjWN5M
Then there is a fitted base that’s open on the bottom, and has sturdy elastic to ensure the base stays put (available in Twin to Cal King) and here’s a link to see that one in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnZlrPbZ3YE
It’s a great gift because they even have free returns for 30 days, free gift wrap and free shipping over $75. Get 15% off with the promo code “GREAT” at www.quickzipsheet.com through December 25th.
My mom’s friend Shirley is a nurse and talented at making lotions, soaks and other products with essential oils. She recently made this bath soak for my mom and it is so, so, good! Seriously, if you’re looking for a DIY gift that people will actually use (aka: doesn’t suck) this is it! I love just opening it up and smelling it. It’s super fragrant and does use quite a bit of essential oils to make… but it’s worth it!
Here is the recipe. I love how Shirley created this hilarious container for it using a funny snap chat picture that I took of my mom and made it her 60th birthday gift. So clever! I created some and put them in pretty Christmas jars topped with a bow.
- 2 cups epsom salts
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup sea salt
- 30 drops of lavender essential oils
- 10 drops of peppermint essential oil
- Mix all ingredients in a medium size bowl.
- Store in an air-tight jar and use 1/4 cup per bath.
